To Kill A Mocking Bird Post 7

In this book to Kill A Mocking Bird I think that a lot of it was about race. The reasons why I choose to defend that is because white people always thought of the black people as lower class people without even knowing anything about them just because of their skin color. Also in the jury with Tom Robinson he lost just because when it was proven true that he didnt rape anybody. But he lost just because he was black and the whole town turned against Tom Robinson just because he was black and not white. What happened in this time period is that whites were only with whites and blacks were only with blacks. I feel that none of this stuff shouldnt have hapened because a person is a person we are all the same no matter what skin color or race we are all the same we are all people.

If all the white people were lower than the black people then all the white people treating blacks like trash were all of a sudden treated like they treated blacks. They would feel terrible and feel that they have not a equal amount of rights than the black people. What I am trying to say that we should treat people like we would want to be treated and not treat them bad just because of what color they are. People should all have the same rights as others no matter what race they are. I did not realize how big of a problem it was for racism until I read this book and it showed things that probably really did happen.

To Kill A Mocking Bird Post 6

There is this lady who lives in my neighborhood and she is a lot like Boo Radley. She always stays in her house and I dont think I have seen her come outside of her house since her mother died. Her name is Miss Vickie and I will be switching her name with Boo Radley and show you have they are alike. Miss Vickie is a lot like Boo radley never comes out of her house for anything just like Miss Vickie. Miss Vickie is very strange and has people do all of her work for her. People don see her much she normally makes people go get her food at the store for her and has people move stuff out of her house into her backyard for her. The really weird thing is that she leaves a lot of expensive things out side like tv's and lets them get rained on and she doesnt care. She also has two cars in her drive way that never move. They havent moved in such a long time I was probably too young to remember.
When we read the book and found out about Boo Radley I thought to myself that Miss Vickie and Boo Radley have a lot in common. Miss Vickie is very tall and doesnt have much hair just like Boo Radley is decribed in the book. Everybody on the block thinks that she is the weird person on the block and you never know what she is doing.
Well those are all the things I can think of about Miss Vickie and how she relates to Boo Radley in the book.

To Kill A Mocking Bird Post 5

Perspective of Scout

We got home today and found out that our Aunt Alexendra was going to be staying with us for a while. And in Maycomb a while could be a couple days to years. She told me that I am to much like a Tom boy and she said that she is going to turn me into a real girl. She said no more wearing overalls it time to grow up and be a lady. I thought she was crazy when she told me to grow up when im in first grade and just started school. Jem told me that you should probabloy just listen to her and just do what she wants you to do while she is living here. When she leaves then you can go back to being whatever you want to be and wear overalls again. There was one thing that really struck my mind was when she said that you lack the pride of your father Atticus. As the trial on Tom Robinson went on and Atticus was defending him as lawyer. A couple days later I asked Atticus what rape was and when the sunday of church was coming up. He got mad at me and Aunt Alexandra told me I could not go to church on sunday for saying that. Aunt Alexandra also tried to convince Atticus to get rid of Calpurnia. This really showed that she wanted to control our life and I did not like it when she tried to but Atticus said that Jem and I had to respect her and listen to what she would say. On a rugular night I went in my room and layed on my bed and found Dill hiding under it. I called Jem into the room and I asked him what are you doing here and he said that he ran away because he wasnt getting enough attention. Jem went straight to Atticus and told him that Dill ran away and was here. Atticus tells Dills Aunt that he was here and why. Atticus was guarding the jail and I heard people yelling so I got up and Jem and Dill followed me and men were telling Atticus to get out of the way. After long conversation Atticus took us home.

To Kill Mocking Bird Post 4

Perspective of Jem

Today Scout and I got air rifles and Atticus didn't tell us how to shoot them but our uncle Sam showed us how. We figured that Atticus didn't know how to do anything that well and we were ashamed because all the other kids parents shot guns and did cool stuff like that but not our dad. Well that's what we thought until a mad dog showed up on our street. Me and Scout spotted it out and told Cal she warned Atticus and he went and got the sheriff. When the sheriff and Atticus got back the mad dog was right in front of the Radley place. It was a clear shot to shoot and the sheriff didnt want to be the one who shot the dog so he gave Atticus the gun. Me and Scout were shocked we thought he didnt even know how to shoot a gun or maybe he didnt all the sheriff did was hand Atticus the gun. Atticus slowlym walked accross the street with the gun in his hand. He rose it up and shot the dog, the dog didnt know what hit him and just fell over and was dead. Scout and I were shocked a one shot kill. We never knew he could do such a thing, we thought he was lazy and never did any of that stuff. But then we heard he would shoot 15 shots at 15 birds and complained if he missed one. His old nickname was one shot Finch.
A couple days later Me and Scout were walking to where we normally meet our dad after we work and I was going to Buy Scout a baton. So on the way there we always have to walk by this really mean ladys house and her name is Mrs. Dubsoe. She always makes fun of me and Scout for bring black and this time she really pushed it. After I bought the baton for Scout on the way back I took it from her and wacked every single one of her flowers to the ground. Then I broke the baton and left there there and went home. I knew I was going to get in trouble for it and my punishment was I had to go over to her house everyday after school and on saturdays and read to her for 2 hours. When I was doing that I noticed that she was very sick and we didnt know what was wrong with her until we found out that she was a bad drug addict and she gets sick when she doesnt do them.

To Kill Mocking Bird Post 3

Perspective of Scout

The weather got very cold and people were saying it was me and Jem with out bad behavior that made the weather so bad. It was freezing like it was so could you could out some water in a glass and leave it outside and it would freeze into ice. I went into my room and it was very hard to fall asleep because it was below freezing inside our house even when we had the fire going. I finally fell asleep which felt like minutes when my Atticus woke me up telling me to hurry and get my clothes on. Atticus wouldn't tell me what was going on so I was completly clueless on what was going on untill he said that Miss Maudies house was burning and going down. It was so cold outside and Atticus told us to stay put in front of the Radleys place so we would be safe from the fire. Me and Jem were sitting in front of the Radleys place and so cold to not notice that someone had put a blanket over us to keep us warm. It didnt help much heck we didnt even notice that it was there untill we stood up to go back to the house. The fire at Miss Maudies was really bad the whole thing was almost gone because of the fire. Men were getting furniture out of the house while the fire rangers were putting out the fire. After it was all put out and there really wasnt much left of her house she said that she wanted to set it to fire for years because she wanted to have a bigger garden and that her garden would be the best of the best. I thought she was crazy when she said that it made me think that she purposely set fire to it and make it look like an accident but i wasnt. There were people helping cleean up the fire till about 5 am and thats when the last people started to leave.

To Kill A Mocking Bird Post 2

Perspective of Jem

After school one day I was hanging out on the couch and Scouts opens the door chewing gum in her mouth. Chewing gum was a big deal because we couldn't afford it. I asked her where she got it and said she got it hanging from a tree. I freaked because you don't even know where that was and I forced her to spit it out. She was a little mad at it for me and i kept telling her it was for her own safety. That gum could have been all moldy and terrible and she put it in her mouth I mean what was she thinking. As school went on Jem and Scout did what they usually died and then on the last day of school they found two Indian Head pennies where Scout had found the gum. They pennies where kept in a small box. Jem and Scout were totally shocked that they had found something like this just laying around. If you don't know already that Indian Head pennies are good luck and who ever has them will have good luck as long as they have them. Jem thought that this tree might be someones hideout and might keep their secret stuff in there. Jem suggested putting them back but then Scout said finders keeper loser weepers unless proven owners. So Jem and Scout decided to keep the pennies and they both thought that they would have good luck because they did. Summer goes by and Dill shows up and on the last day of summer Dill dares Jem to go look through the window of the Radely place. Jem looks through and hears a shot gun fired at him and runs away and gets his pants caught under the fence of the school and gets away.

1st post TKAM Chapters 1-3

Perspective: Scout

My dad is a lawer and is very good with his job. And we are livivng in the great deppression so we are lucky to be making it right now because of money problems. I live with him and my brother and our house keeper Calpurnia spends most of her time at our house. I didnt get to meet my mom because she died when I was two. My brother is four years older than me and he has some memories of mom so he had more feelings than I did. There is a kid who lives next to me and his name is Chris Baker Harris but everyone just calls him Dill. We act out all of our stories that we read just to have fun. Dill got bored one day and dared Jem to go an get our freak neighbor Boo Radely to come out of his house. My brother Jem got freaked out and was to scared to get him yo come out and so he just slapped the side of his house instead. Now that summer is over Dill has to go back to his real home because he just comes here to visit in the summer. Then I have to go to school and meet my new teacher Ms Caroline. When we were reading in class I was the only one who knew how to read and my teacher was mad at me for some reason. She said for me to tell my dad to stop teaching me how to read and I told her my dad never taught me how to read and she got very mad. At lunch, I rubbed Walter’s nose in the dirt for getting me in trouble, but Jem stoped me and invites Walter to lunch. then when we get back to the house i got really mad at walter and was iritateing him and Calpurnia noticed and she took me into the kitchen and scolded me and she slaps me when i was close to getting back to the dinning room. after that when we got back to school, Miss Caroline becomes terrified when a tiny bug, or “cootie,” crawls out of a boy’s hair. that boys name was Burris Ewell who was from an even poorer family/clan then the Cunningham family/clan.
