Literature Circle Post 1

Page 17 Paragraph 7
"We should tell Dad what the doctor said," Karl insisted. "He should have been told. He has the right to know. Wouldn't you want to know?"
Of course I'd want to know.

Significance:
I thought that this quote was very important in the story. The reason why is because the docter gives the daughter of the father who is dieing imformation that is illegal. The docter told her that her father is slowly dieing when the father does not realize. That quote touched me because would you like it if someone knew you were slowly dieing and they didnt tell you? Im pretty sure you wouldn't.
Personal Connection:
The personal connection that I have to this is I have been told a secret about somebody when the person who had it didn't even know they did. Someone told me that the kid had Attention Deffisite Dissorder. I had thought that this kid has had it before anybody told me. I handled the situation by not bringing it up to anyone.
Question:
Would you have the same reaction to someone who didnt know that they were going to die and other people knew that he was?

  1. Yes, I would have wanted to be told. I often say that. A lot of times, I think and say "If I were them, I'd want to know" but sometimes I would feel bad, and not tell them because I'd be too afraid to hurt them, but I learned you should always tell the truth, no matter how much it hurts. So yeah, I probably would have the same reaction.

  2. Dale, don't forget, you need to do exactly what you did above, but for two quotes.
