Page 193 Paragraph 2
Quote 1
"Don't come," my uncle pleaded. "Not now, Zi. Not yet." We can't just leave you there," Tante Zi said. "You have your ticket. You can leave the country tomorrow. We have to get you out."

Significance:
Well what is going on right now is they are trying to sneak the uncle out of the country because there is a gang trying to find him and kill him. The head gang member said that if we get him we will burn him alive.
Personal Connection:
I accidentally broke a kids skateboard at the park one time and i ran away. He said if I ever get you your dead.
Question 1
What would you do if a gang was after you and would kill you if they found you?
Quote 2
Page 268 Paragraph 2
After my uncle Joseph died, my father told me that he dreamed of him only once, and never in the small group he pictured around his bed.
Significance:
This is telling me that the father didnt care much when his brother died. And he only thought of him once. That tells me that he probably did not like or care for his brother.
Personal Connection:
Most of the time when something bad happens to my sister I dont care that much.
How much would you care if one of your family members died?

  1. Great quotes Dale. The only problem is, for both of them, is that they have nothing to do with immigration! The rubric told us to try and base our problems off of the parts of our book that has to do with our character's process of becoming a citizen. That, or their experience that made them have to go to the U.S.

Answer 1: That would be a hard situation for me to get out of. I believe that I would have done what Joseph would have done. I would have immigrated to another country, and tried to get safety there.

Answer 2: I would care a whole lot. I'm lucky enough to not have lost a family member yet, but it's a part of life. I do think that I would have the same experience as anybody else.
